ARLA obtains clarification on ‘extra occupiers’

The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) has obtained government clarification on the issue of existing tenancies where an additional occupier joins a longer-standing named tenant. The Home Office has stated that if a different occupier is named on the tenancy agreement then it is classed as a new tenancy in terms of the Right to Rent scheme and checks should be performed on all occupiers subject to the scheme.
