December 2017 saw a marginal increase in average rents in the private rental market

A report from HomeLet has revealed that rental price inflation in the private rental market moved marginally higher at the end of 2017.

The analysis presented by HomeLet shows that rents in the UK rose to an average of £907 in December 2017 compared with £892 in the same month of the previous year. This represents and annualised average increase of 1.7%.

Rents in the East Midlands recorded the highest rises, with rents on average 4.6% higher in December 2017 than in the same month of 2016. The South-East of England, in contrast, was the only region to register a fall in rents during the same period, down 1% on the previous year.
