Fees ban legislation to be introduced into Wales ‘imminently’

ARLA Propertymark has reported that a draft bill to introduce a fees ban in Wales is set to be published imminently.

Following on from confirmation in February that it would bring forward a Bill banning fees in the private rented sector, the Welsh Assembly announced on Friday that it would be inviting stakeholders to submit evidence before the Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee in the coming next few months. The consultation however will take place after the Bill has been introduced.

ARLA chief executive, David Cox said, “We have already engaged with the Welsh Government to explain our grave concerns about the impact a ban will have on staff numbers, the quality of properties and rent prices across the sector.”
