Government queried on Right to Rent pilot

The Shadow Home Secretary, Andy Burnham, will today use the official House of Commons Home Office question time to quiz Home Secretary, Theresa May, on the results of the pilot Right to Rent project. The pilot took place in the West Midlands and is scheduled to be rolled out to the rest of the country next year. Under the scheme agents and landlords are obliged to carry out document checks to ensure that a potential tenant has the right to reside in the UK. The Labour party intend to propose scrapping the current Right to Rent provisions which they claim will lead to widespread discrimination.
