Investment only way forward for rental sector
With the demand for private rental homes forecast to rise by 1.2 million by 2019, this need can only be met by new, good quality, fit-for-purpose rented housing in volume.
Jacqui Daly, director, Savills Residential Research, has revealed in a recent survey that leading investment houses identified a collective ambition to invest more than £30bn in the UK private rented sector. For the delivery of this they need income rather than capital growth and so any move towards curtailing that income could result in these investors retrenching.
