Landlords disappointed at vote on revenge evictions

Amendments aimed at combatting so-called retaliatory evictions have been passed in the House of Lords’ meaning they are almost certain to become law in the spring. The news has been met with consternation by the National Landlords Association who claim that no credible evidence exists supporting that a problem exists requiring new legislation. Rather, they state, the new regulations will simply be a burdensome nuisance to the majority of good landlords. The charity Shelter, on the other hand, has welcomed the vote saying that the threat of eviction has been lifted from thousands of renters seeking remedial repairs on their homes.
