Croydon Council, which introduced landlord licensing in 2015, is facing a shortage of properties for their social tenants. To address this their staff have hit the road, promoting landlord incentive schemes such as rent guarantees to help house tenants currently needing accommodation.

Vanessa Warwick, of landlord forum PropertyTribes, was somewhat taken aback to see officials from the council at the Landlord Investment Show, forty four miles down the road in Brighton. She found it ironic that central government legislation seems to be actively deterring landlords from investing in the sector whilst not considering the reality of what is going on at the coal face.
