More landlords in North of England hit by void periods

New research from the UK Association of Letting Agents (UKALA) shows that landlords in the North of England were more likely to experience a void period in the last quarter than any other UK region.

53% of landlords with property in both the North West and North East of England experienced a void in the past three months.

The research shows the UK average for void periods has crept up from 33% in the previous quarter to 35%.

The findings also revealed that while 63% of voids were due to natural tenant changeover, some 31% were due to tenants vacating the property to carry out essential maintenance or refurbishments.
