No plans to extend letting agent fees ban to England

Housing minister, Brandon Lewis, has confirmed that the government has no plans to extend a ban on letting agency fees to England. Although fees are already banned in Scotland, the government has stated that no evidence as yet exists that the ban has resulted in a strong beneficial results. Fears that such a measure could result in a reduction in the number of available properties in the private rented sector have also influenced the government’s current position.
