Property industry angry at government’s failure to fix the broken market
Property Agents and bodies have voiced their disappointment over many of the policies set out in the government’s Housing White Paper.
Paul Smith, Chief Executive at Haart, says changes to the rental market will result in costs being passed on to tenants through increased rents in the long term.
However the director of lettings at Marsh & Parsons, Patrick Littlemore, welcomes the additional safeguards for tenants but does add that it is also important that Landlords remain protected against rogue tenants. He says that the three year tenancies provide increased security for tenants.
