Responses to second PRS reform consultation published

An analyses of responses to the second consultation on a new tenancy for the private rented sector (PRS) has been published by the Scottish Government. The vast majority of responses came from campaigns such as those organised by the Living Rent Campaign and the Scottish Association of Landlords. These type of responses addressed only a small number of the issues covered by the consultation. The report found that 86% of respondents agreed that there should be no initial period during which tenants cannot issue a notice to their landlord to end the tenancy. Campaigners argue that such a restriction could result in tenants becoming trapped in unsafe or unaffordable tenancies due to financial concerns.
