RLA calls on councils to drop licensing schemes

The Residential Landlords Association (RLA) has called on councils to drop licensing schemes in light of the government’s new Housing and Planning Bill which makes clear that local authorities can use council tax registration forms to ask tenants for details on a property’s tenure and its landlord. By collecting information in this manner councils can avoid levying expensive costs on landlords which inevitably get passed on to tenants in higher rents.
