ARLA reports rent rises from 27% of landlords

The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) has reported that 27% of its licensed members saw an increase in the cost of monthly rents from December 2014 to January 2015. The region with the highest level of increases was the East of England with 35% of landlords increasing rent per calendar month. An ARLA representative attributed this to high house prices and strict lending criteria for mortgages meaning that the rental market is a more accessible and affordable option to many.
