Consultation process on ‘rogue property agents’ launched

The government has launched a consultation process on a package of measures to crack down on what it calls ‘rogue landlords’ and ‘rogue letting agents.’

Those committing serious offences would be subject to banning orders according to the Department for Communities and Local Government. Examples of such offences could include threatening tenants with violence, illegally evicting them or failing to carry out work required by the council to prevent a health and safety risk to tenants.
