Key UK cities to benefit from build to rent announcement

A multi million pound development to build more than 2,000 new homes for rent in key cities across the UK has been announced by the government.

2,062 will be built in total, with 995 in Manchester, 744 in Leeds and 323 in Birmingham. The £400 million development will receive £45 million from the Government’s new Home Building Fund which makes money available to kick start new development and house building.

The Housing Minister, Gavin Barwell, said that ‘alongside home ownership, we’re determined to create a bigger, better private rental market to offer greater choice for tenants in a country that works for everyone.’
