Labour would set up not-for-profit letting agents

Should Labour get into power then it will set up non-profit letting agencies and introduce three-year tenancies as the standard. The pledge was made by shadow housing minister Teresa Pearce at the Labour Party Conference taking place in Liverpool this week.

In a conference speech Pearce said: “In the private rented sector, end of tenancy is a rising cause of homelessness, so we would change the rules on tenancies where a three-year lease becomes the norm.”
