Scottish private rental market ‘lacking supply’
According to a report, from The Scottish Association of Landlords (SAL), 43% of people looking to rent in the past five years had found it “quite difficult” or “very difficult” to find a suitable property. Other issues raised by people looking to rent included poor treatment by landlords and value for money.
Calling on the Scottish government to address the lack of supply by encouraging investment in the sector while driving up standards and ensuring value for money for tenants. The government in response said it was committed to making the private rented sector “an attractive and affordable housing option” for those who wanted to take it up.
