Tenants expect to remain in PRS for a further decade

New survey reveals attitude towards renting
Average tenant expects to remain in PRS for ten more years

New data release by AXA shows that the average UK tenant expects to remain in the Private Rented Sector for ten more years. Responses to the study could reflect a change in attitudes, as fewer tenants now say that they are renting because they can’t afford to buy a property.

According to a third of those questioned, the primary reason for renting us ‘the freedom and lifestyle benefits’ it brings.

Other findings from the survey include confirmation that those in the UK tend to favour short-term contracts of six months to a year with 61% of those surveyed indicating a preference for tenancies of this length, whereas only 18% would like to be offered five to ten year leases.
